Panchayat polls: priority, a separate queue, ramps and wheelchairs for senior citizen voters

Under the Commission's order, at polling stations in the Panchayati Raj elections:

1. Senior citizen voters will be given priority in voting.
2. Suitable ramps and the necessary signage will be provided.
3. A shaded waiting area and a separate queue will be arranged.
4. Volunteers and NSS will help where needed.
5. Polling parties are expected to treat senior voters courteously and sensitively.
6. Wheelchairs will be used where needed.

The Commission issued a separate order on 18 September on assistance to voters with disabilities, and on 24 September ordered voter assistance booths.
